We come together in the midst of great challenges. We are aware of the social and political, upheaval occurring as a result of our current political situation. We affirm that we live in a democratic society and we will act as citizens to preserve and protect our democracy.
We gather as women to affirm our commitment to a free, just and humane society.
We gather as women to join our emotional, spiritual, physical and material energy to create a more perfect union.
We affirm our kinship and renew our sisterhood.
We gather as women to protect our communities and our families, and to build a better world for our children.
We gather as women to carry on the work of those who came before. Who struggled and died for a world they believed in. We honor their sacrifice to make our union more perfect.
We gather as women in solidarity with those of us the world over who suffer at the hands of authoritarian and abusive leaders who batter and abuse our bodies, destroy our sexuality and deny our right to self-determination and independence.
We gather as women because we have witnessed what happens when men alone are in control.
We gather as women because we are lovers of humanity in all its shapes, forms and colors.
We gather as women because we are both lovers and warriors. And we will resist the forces that would separate us by skin color, where we come from, who we choose to love, or where we live.
We gather as women to protect our precious mother earth.
And in the tradition of the Indigenous People we honor the Great Mother who nourishes and sustains us all.
We gather as women because we believe that the arc of the moral universe is long and it bends toward peace, justice, and love.
We ask that which is bigger than our finite selves to guide and protect us.
