Hope for democracy comes from within each of us. Meet Emily & Marie.
SoJuicy Creative Justice Community Founder Emily Cox, masters in social work, mother, lifelong social justice organizer. “When we show up for the greater good, no matter how quietly or simply, we are being activists. I expect myself and the people I show up with to own our impact and in our own way to be socially engaged for a more just world. I invite you to be honest in this struggle for a personal democracy so that we can create a better future together.”
Marie Cox-McMahon’s impromptu speech at Durham's MarchforourLives in 2018 agitated the crowd to connect the issues of institutional racism, voter suppression and nonpartisan voter education. Now a junior in public policy on a UNC Pogue Scholarship, dedicated to Student Leaders in Diversity. Marie celebrates Pride and feminism in a kick-ass novel The New Normal, published via Amazon in 2016. Read it! #UNCClassof2022.
